The 3-step process

1. Choose a design

Browse the made-to-order collection or the full catalogue for a style, colour palette, and pattern you like. The photographed version is a real, specific rug — but the design itself, not just that exact piece, is what you're commissioning.

2. Tell us your size

Enquire directly through the design's page with your dimensions and any adjustments to colour or motif. We confirm real pricing and lead time before anything is committed — see our pricing guide and sizing guide if you're not sure what to ask for yet.

3. Your rug is woven

The weaving is commissioned with our Berber artisan partners in the Atlas region and ships directly from Morocco once complete — no intermediate warehouse, no added leg in the journey. Real, current turnaround is 6–8 weeks from deposit.

What to have ready before you enquire
  • The design or style you want (link to the specific product page helps)
  • Your exact room measurements, or the size tier you want (see table below)
  • Any colour or motif adjustments you'd like
  • Your rough timeline — useful to flag if you're working toward a specific date

Runner sizes are also available, typically 80 × 200cm or 80 × 300cm — ask directly for a quote, since runner pricing depends more on exact length than the standard tiers above.

"The rug in the photo isn't the only rug you can order — it's proof of what the design looks like woven. Your version is a new piece, made to your size."

The deposit

A 50% deposit secures the commission and starts the weaving; the balance is due before shipping. This is standard practice for made-to-order textiles generally — the deposit reflects that materials and a weaver's time are committed to your specific piece from the moment work begins, not held in inventory the way a ready-made rug is.

What can actually be customised

Size is the most common request, but colour and minor motif adjustments are also possible within a design's existing structure — a weaver can shift a palette (say, swapping a rust accent for indigo) more readily than redesigning the pattern itself from scratch. If you have a specific vision beyond adjusting an existing design, describe it in your enquiry; we'll tell you plainly whether it's achievable within the made-to-order process or better suited to browsing the ready-to-ship catalogue instead.

The bottom line

Made-to-order exists because a ready-to-ship catalogue can only show you rugs at one size each — commissioning removes that constraint. The tradeoff is time: 6–8 weeks instead of immediate shipping, in exchange for a rug sized exactly to your room rather than the nearest available match.
