The rug in motion — pile, pattern and scale. No sound.
Fadwa
1 AvailableGuests ask about this one before they sit down. It is the only thing in the room that needs no second piece to explain it — and the only art in the house you can stand on barefoot.
An abstract cubist portrait, hand-knotted in cobalt blue, cerulean, mustard yellow, and charcoal grey against cream — fractured, geometric facial planes in the unmistakable language of Picasso's Cubism, translated into wool. A composition that could hang in a gallery as easily as it could anchor a room. White knotted tassel fringe finishes each end.
One woman wove Fadwa, once. There is no second reading of this face.
